Recently the entire country witnessed events which gave words to all our inner thoughts. The fight against corruption is going to be a long one and a though one. What has not been done in over 50 years now needs to be done. Most of us Indians stand together on this thought. But it is not this fight that I want to talk about here today. Along with IAC comprising of some active citizens of the civil society stands Baba Ramdev, who whatever his agendas has started his own struggle for return of black money, death sentence to corrupt officials, making the educational system swadeshi etc ...
Now lets concentrate on the Swadeshi aspect of the demands and what all it could comprise of and what all can be done to bring about change in the system and what effects it could have on our society.
He says a parallel technical education establishment should be set up in regional languages. The technical and administrable language for the sustainment of the society has to be our own. Although this demand is impractical in current scenario, on a broader scale it is essential. The existence of today's global society is dependent on widely spread communication systems which apart from depending on energy sources, are also very fragile. The possibility of depletion of globalization in future cannot be put aside. In that case dependence on English alone is indirectly loosing have what is now our language.
So is it alright to use regional languages for education effective. In our country, we have 18 recognized languages and innumerable dialects, each with glyphs of their own. Usage of regional languages will not only divide these regions but also stop the flow of knowledge between these regions. Which is not good for both education also the sustainment of the country. So what is the alternative. Considering 2 of the most used languages in India, Hindi and Urdu. Urdu is predominantly used by muslims and people in muslim dominated cities. As they already are the minorities it will be a forceful imposition on the majorities. Hindi, well the south Indians will definitely have some thing to say about it.
So, concluding a language has to be choosen such that it should have to be related to all the regional languages, It should be related to Hindi and Urdu, which are widely used and hence should be consistent. And ofcourse it has to be complex enough to hold the knowledge, unlike some african languages. Seeing these requirements its plain as glass that it has to be Samskrutha. Ofcourse there are quite a bit of stains on the glass to be cleaned. Lack of infrastructure, educators, experts but these issues exist in every other option.
India has sustained a lot of extremism over past millenniums. But has survived the worst of situations. If we are to become a self sustained land of civilized humans . If our current generations are to be remembered by the coming millenniums . This is essential. It will not be wise on our part to ignore this idea just because it comes from a irritable yoga guru who dosent know what he wants. Truth should not be ignored, even if it comes from a ignorant.
